Nestled into a canyon site this seemingly weightless residence sits overlooking the Pacific Ocean. A delicately detailed Alaskan yellow cedar wall creates a screen that reveals the house beyond. The interior is characterized by expansive windows and open, light filled space that is intercepted by a thin section bridge detailed in wood and steel. The roof plane slices the air with a delicate 3 inch angle which is supported by a 1.5” diameter rod. The roof trusses
are a composite section of stock lumber and a thin cable system
inside that become steel plates as they penetrate the channel
glass clerestory windows.
